Karen McNeill and Pauline Lunn of In Control Scotland have brought years of experience in place-based change together in Start Somewhere, a free learnbook due for release on 20 October.
The learnbook is not offered as another universal framework. It uses practical questions and a multi-altitude view to examine where knowledge, decisions, resources, and power sit. Four recurring moves, Make Visible, Make Sense, Decide, and Act & Adapt, help identify where change is progressing and where it has stopped.
Its central challenge is a familiar one: sometimes a system does not need more insight. It needs someone to decide, or to turn an existing decision into action and learning.
