In early 2016 the National Audit Office (NAO) undertook research to find out:
- how local public service reform is being pursued in eight places in England
- what the enablers and barriers are
- how the government is supporting reform at a local level
As part of this research the NAO looked at the role played by the Public Service Transformation Network (PSTN) which the government set up and funded from 2013 to 2016. This enabled a team of seconded civil servants to work with local areas and help to remove the barriers to reform that existed at a national level.
Although the PSTN no longer exists, we are pleased that the tools, information and learning it compiled live on as part of the Public Service Transformation Academy website and we would encourage all those involved in local public service reform to make use of this very valuable resource.
